Is NFC safe? (health & data)

Is NFC safe? (health & data)

Is NFC dangerous for your health or your data? In practice, no. Here’s what you really need to know, without the myths.

No sensitive data on the chip

An NFC card like the SpotiCard only holds a public link to your profile. No bank details, no passwords are stored on it.

A range of a few centimetres

NFC only works at near-direct contact. Your chip can’t be read “from a distance” in the street: a phone must come within about 4 cm.

What about health?

An NFC chip is passive: it emits nothing on its own and uses no battery. The field, very weak and very brief, has no known danger.

Best practices

  • Only point your profile to links you control.
  • Use an editable profile so you can remove info at any time.

In short

Well designed, NFC is safe and convenient. Discover the SpotiCard or our complete guide.
